3DPrintedCarPartDescription
I bought a used 2004 Ford F-150 a few years back and the plug that goes in the hole for the jack crank was missing. This plug is usually a keyed device that is intended to keep people from stealing your spare tire, I guess. It takes about 5-10 minutes to lower the spare, assuming you have the tools to do so, so I'm pretty sure the keyed device is an unnecessary precaution. It also costs around $120 to replace, which is probably more than it would cost to just buy another tire and rim. But the hole bugged me. I have this perfect (rusty) bumper with this unsightly hole in it. It nagged at me. But not that much, so I sat on the idea for a year. But it shall bug me no more, because I plugged it with this little thing here that I designed. It fits snugly together (I had to "encourage" the parts together with a hammer) and fits snugly in the hole. If I ever need to pop it off to get at the spare I'll probably have to pry it apart, but that's ok, it's tiny, and easy to print. I put the "F-150" logo in the center, but really this thing is so small that you can't really see it. The disc itself is based on a tire I found here on Thingiverse (thing 1360332), but shrunk down and filled in, then cut in half. It's split in two parts to make it easy to print without supports. Also, by pressing them together you can just pop them apart to get it out of the hole.
