3DPrintedCarPartDescription
Background: This is a 56mm wheel center cap designed to fit the older style 2014-2016 19" Polestar winter wheels for the S/V60 (https://accessories.volvocars.com/AccessoriesWeb/Accessories.mvc/Images/0000c8af%5C80%5C13%5C2b%5C92.jpg) This is designed to look like the caps that were on the 2013 S60 concept and is a direct replacement for the blank silver caps that 2014-2016 19" Polestar winter wheels came with. I am not sure of the hole diameter for the 2017-2018 19" Polestar wheels. This cap will not fit regular P3 wheels as the hole for the center cap on the regular wheels is slightly larger. There are a few versions of the center cap included, in.STL and.STEP formats. The versions listed as _reinforced have a small fillet on the inside face of the cap, to reinforce the tabs that secure the cap to the wheel. I've also included a blank version, in case you want to modify the logo on the face of the cap, or if you want to put a decal on the face of the cap instead. Printing: I had a friend print this with a Formlabs printer in ABS, not sure what specs were used. Prep: I started wet sanding from 300 grit to remove large chunks of support, increasing to 400, 800, 1000, 2000, ending at 3000. Painting: I painted the caps with two coats of Duplicolor adhesion promotor, three coats of Gunmetal Grey Rust-Oleum paint (which was the closest match I found to the color of the Polestar winter wheel) and three coats of SprayMax 2k Gloss clear coat. Note that if you use a 2k clear coat there is a limited working time when the activator is used on the can. I only needed one can of the adhesion promotor, paint, and clear coat.
