Description

This print was inspired by the cup holders found in the Honda Fit. If you've driven one, you know how nice it is having that third cup holder just for the driver. This is a 3D printed cup holder that fits a second generation Chevrolet Colorado (or GMC Canyon). It was designed to be roughly the size of the existing cup holder. I do not recommend using actual cups, stick to bottles. If it breaks/snaps it is best to not have stuff spilling everywhere. In order to not block the vent, the cup holder ends up being a little close to the turn signal stalk. Bottles don't block/interfere, but cups that get wider can. It should be printed on its side, so the tab that sticks out won't snap off. The inside edge of the cup holder might get a little dodgy depending on how well your printer does bridging. I printed it using PETG. I haven't tried this in the summer yet but it is holding up so far. If it sags in the summer heat it might be worth trying ASA, Polycarbonate or Nylon. I absolutely would not use PLA. To install the cup holder, cut some strips of printer paper to act as a shim. Wrap them around the tab and shove it in to the slot on the dashboard. You might need to tweak how many strips of paper you use to get a snug fit. If someone wants the STEP file, ask and I'll upload it. I did design a TPU insert that mimic's the Colorado cup holder nubs/bumps, but it gripped too hard and wasn't very useful. If someone wants this I'll upload it too (or maybe I'll try and fix the clearance issues it has). I take no responsibility for spilt coffee or broken dashboards. Use at your own risk.
