Description

Being a proud owner of a Tesla Model 3, I was looking for ways to improve my car user experience. I do find that shopping bags can tip over, dispersing their content into the boot of the car. Placing the bag into one of the car's bays is one approach, but a trunk hanging hook is a simple approach, too. The Model 3 has a 15mm hole in the metalwork on the left side of the trunk which can be utilised for a hook mount. My hook design consists of two parts, a mount that fits into the 15mm hole, a second part forms a removable hook. My design had to meet the following criteria: - Strong - Easily removable - Straightforward to print. - Able to handle the high temperatures common in cars. As you would expect from a hanging hook, it protrudes into the trunk storage space, hence take care not to get the new hook caught on objects moved around in the trunk. Should the hook get in the way, simply unscrew it from its mount; no screw driver required. The mount can be left mounted and will not obstruct. I ended up choosing Nylon as the print filament for the mount. Nylon doesn't crack when the M5x10mm metal screw is inserted. The M5x10mm metal screw insert is similar to the following part: https://www.boltandnut.com.au/m6-x-18mm-1-00p-metric-coarse-zinc-flange-threaded-timber-insert-nuts-low-tensile Here is my 3D design. My design may match your needs, too. My print is made in PETG 1.75mm Aurarum white filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a PRUSA I3 MK3S printer. The small part should be printed with a brim. No print supports are needed. I hope you can find this design useful, too. Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.
