Description

okk2000's Tesla AR navigation mount (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5265089) was exactly what I was looking for, but it was only the mount portion. I looked around Thingiverse and found NoahColly's Adjustable MagSafe Stand (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4758057), and it had the exact back and nut I needed for the complete mount...but there was no way to put the nut behind the ball on the mount. So I split okk2000's mount into two keyed pieces. Print them out, insert NoahColly's nut between them, then glue the ball and the mount together. I used JB KwikWeld, but that was probably overkill - the glue just has to keep the parts from sliding apart; it doesn't support the weight of the phone (the keyed part does that). Use whatever glue is a good fit for the material you printed it with. Once it's dried, screw on NoahColly's Magsafe back. Speaking of material, this mount is likely to get pretty hot from time-to-time, so print it in something that can handle some heat (i.e. *not* PLA). I used generic Amazon ABS and it worked fine. I haven't mounted mine to the car yet, but I imagine some 3M Command Strips would do the trick. Thanks to okk2000 and NoahColly for their designs!
