Description

This is a replacement for the cigarette lighter assembly in the center console of the 5th Generation (2010-2015) Chevrolet Camaro that turns that little cavity into a (mostly) flat platform for attaching things without permanent modification of any interior plastics. My plan was to use it as a base to mount a gauge pod, but abandoned the idea since I realized I would also have to design my own pod, then an interface to the base, then make sure it is far enough to not get punched during a shift but not in the way of the controls or other gauges, then make it tough enough to not snap in half from bumpy roads or an errant passenger knee, AND THEN figure out how to make it not a nightmare to print and assemble. But since I already put a few hours work into this I didn't want to just scrap it just in case it could be useful to someone else. It's not 100% perfect, everything was designed and iterated using nothing but a pair of $15 digital calipers and guess and check, but i think its close enough. The lines and corners are pretty close and everything fits snug without binding and the top is almost flush with the trim. Note: 1) You should not need supports to print this 2) If the nut is very snug or binds, increase the X and Y scale by 1% (101% scale) but NOT the Z 3) Don't mind how short the nut is in the picture, I lost power printing the final 100% infill version and didn't feel like making another since I wasn't actually going to use it anyway 4) Feel free to modify and improve, F3D and STEP files included!
