Description

My lad has the dubious pleasure of owning a 2008 Mini Cooper which has a Harmon Kardon stereo fitted but no Bluetooth hands free. He recently bought a Kinivo BTC Hands-free Bluetooth adaptor which allows music to be streamed from the phone as well as the ability to take calls, routed through the cars audio system. The issue we had was finding somewhere to mount the little control unit which has a length of electric string hanging from it, somewhere where it can be reached from the driving position whilst trying to avoid the spaghetti hanging down the pretty busy dashboard of the car. In the end I elected to design this adaptor which fits into the driver side cup holder in the centre console. The excess wiring can be coiled and stored inside the adaptor and the wiring leads neatly out of the rear to connect with the AUX input socket in the underside of the centre front console and the cigarette lighter socket for the power. The only material required apart from the filament of choice is the 15mm x 4mm Neodymium magnet. These can be sourced from E-bay or Amazon quite easily. There are 3 versions. 1st is just the plain adaptor. The logo added has a Mini logo recessed into the adaptor and the 3rd has an embossed logo. Can't really see it when the adaptor is fitted to the car but it looks cool when removed.
