Description

Porsche 718/981/991 suffer from intense wind buffeting when driving at highway speed with one or both windows down. There are a couple products on the market but I decided to design my own. This has only been test fitted on my personal 2014 981 but it should fit any 718/981/991. The 981_buffet.stl part is meant to be printed with 0% infill and cut apart to form the left and right parts. This is because the finished parts are a bit too flimsy to print separately. I used the printed part just as a fit check and to see if it was effective before continuing on to carbon but you could sand/paint it and use it as the final product. I used 2 outlines and the parts handled 85mph no problem. For those who want a more durable/aesthetic product, I've included 981_buffet_mold.stl. This can be printed and polished to use as a mold for carbon fiber or fiber glass vacuum bag fabrication. Highly recommend printing in ABS as epoxy aggressively sticks to PLA and even with mold release the part may stick. I used 4 outlines and 20% infill and the mold was plenty strong. The lower half can be printed low quality to save time but I recommend switching process to .15 layer height or smaller before the actual part surface starts to minimize smoothing work.
